Gurgaon : The Huda had notified on Sunday that in the wake of acute water shortage, an FIR would be lodged against anyone wasting water in the city. But, residents in many parts of the city were found violating the order and wasting water by washing vehicles or watering gardens. GURGAON: It's no small task reversing the perennial water crisis that this city is now known to be suffering, a crisis that only promises to deteriorate in the coming years. But to resolve even as mighty a problem, some start needs to be made somewhere. The new water use report for Gurgaon, prepared by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), appears to be a good starting point if the authorities are serious about addressing Gurgaon's water concerns. The report, titled 'Wise Water Use in Gurgaon,' the fruit of around two months of surveying that the CSE team carried out in various parts of the city. "HUDA officials had asked us to help them prepare a plan to improve sewage treatment. We decided to make it a more comprehensive affair," said Nitya Jacob, director of the CSE's water programme, who headed the four-member team that worked on the report. GURGAON: The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) is planning to provide canal water to builders for construction purposes. "The option of supplying canal water to builders is being worked out. The details and the procedure will be finalized soon," said Praveen Kumar, HUDA administrator. As per the tentative plan, builders will have to ferry canal water from Chandu Budhera water treatment plant (WTP) through water tankers. The canal water supply is likely to increase by the end of this month. Till the time builders are allowed to use canal water, they will have to take treated water from the sewage treatment plants (STPs) for construction. After the Punjab and Haryana high court ban on the use of underground water by builders in Gurgaon, the HUDA had decided to provide treated water for construction.
