PCMC to set up lab to test water samples from Pavana
PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will set up a laboratory to regularly test water samples from the Pavana river and nullahs to monitor pollution level and submit reports to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) for further action. The laboratory will also monitor solid waste, air, sound and soil pollution levels within the municipal limits. A proposal with instructions from the municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi will be tabled at the standing committee meeting on June 4, to streamline data collection. Earlier in November 15, 2011, the Maharashtra Water Resources Regulatory Authority had directed the civic body to take water samples from Pavana dam and Pavana river at Khadde, Thugaon, Bebedohol, Godumbre, Gahunje, Shivane, Ravet bund and other locations and test them at the MPCB laboratory or any other laboratory certified by the board.
