Funds Arrive For Depts To Make Kumbh Successful

LUCKNOW: To ensure successful conduct of the Maha Kumbh Mela at Allahabad, central government has released Rs 254.64 crore to be sanctioned to 22 departments/institutions. According to an order issued by principal secretary urban development Pravir Kumar, the state government has given its sanction to release Rs 59.05 crore to the public works department, Rs 4.91 crore to Irrigation department, Rs 14.26 crore to UPPCL, Rs 1.95 crore to UPSRTC, Rs 3.60 crore to UPPCDF (Parag), Rs 3 crore to Information department, Rs 28 lakh to Awas Vikas Parishad, Allahabad, Rs 1.29 crore to Tourism department, Rs 1.10 crore to Forest department for renovation of Minto Park in Sangam area, Rs 18 lakh to Horticulture department for producing saplings of ornamental plants and lawn development, Rs 48 lakh to Ayurvedic Unani medical department, Rs 34.27 crore to Medical and Health department and Rs 50 lakh to Homoeopathy department.

Similarly, approval has also been granted for releasing Rs 53.91 crore to Jal Nigam for drinking water and drainage projects, Rs 4.14 crore to the Ganga Pollution Control Unit for its sewage treatment plant project, Rs 1.30 crore to Jhunsi Nagar Panchayat, Rs 34 lakh to Allahabad development authority for beautification work and road strengthening under the overbridge being constructed at Alopibagh and another Rs 1.33 crore for footpath construction and landscaping near Swaraj Bhawan and Anand Bhawan, Rs 54.23 crore to Allahabad Nagar Nigam, Rs 12.29 crore to Kumbh Mela Administration, Rs 32 lakh to Food and Supply department, Rs 11 lakh to divisional commissioner's office, Rs 94 lakh and Rs 86 lakh for upgradation of Tourism department's Ilarvat tourist guest house and Hotel Yamuna View (Rahi Triveni Darshan), respectively. NEW DELHI: If you recently paid your water bills online, your money may have landed in the pockets of cyber crooks. The Delhi Jal Board has lodged a complaint against a fake department website, very similar to the real one, that may have been used to dupe consumers. A source said that the fake website was blocked after DJB's chief engineer approached the crime branch. The team of cyber cell experts is investigating the case and an FIR under the information technology (66A) Act has been registered, a senior police officer said. The fake website, www.delhijalboard .in, looks remarkably like the original website. The crooks have also managed to forge the home ministry and Delhi government logos, police sources said. The fake website contained data from the original website and had options for direct bill payments. Pollution control board directs meat complex to repair effluent treatment plant

PANAJI: The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) on Monday directed the Goa Meat Complex to repair the existing effluent treatment plant (ETP), which treats the waste water generated by the meat complex while slaughtering animals. The board also said that failure to comply with the directions will force the GSPCB to withdraw the consent to operate under the Water Act. The GSPCB held a personal hearing with a representative of the meat complex. Board members highlighted the findings of the inspection report which stated that the ETP is not functioning. Speaking to TOI, GSPCB chairman Jose Manuel Noronha said that the inspection report states that the chemical oxygen limit has increased to 2,500 mg/litre against the permissible limit of 250 mg/litre. "It is ten times higher than the permissible limit," he added. He also said that bio-chemical oxygen limit has gone up to 850 mg/litre against the permissible limit of 30mg/liter. Water level rise in reservoirs of Kerala

With the heavy rain in the recent days Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has seen a rise in level of water in reservoirs by 2 percent raising the toll from 72% to 74%. As the water level increased, it made possible to produce from 2,985.2 mu (million unit) of electricity on the first day to 3,045.231 mu on the third day with the rising trend on 4 th day too. It is observed for the first time that the water storage level has risen to the extent that the Pampa and Kakki reservoirs has seen the rise in water level by 5 percent within a single day. Even the Kundal reservoir was operated at its full capacity and the Sholayar dam saw a rose by 1 percent. Even the Mullaperiyar dam saw a drastic rise in water storage on a single day with 128 ft which was 121.7 ft two days earlier.
